Our school’s positive behaviour policy has been developed in accordance with Department of Education guidelines. It aims to empower students to make decisions about their behaviour and is based on the rights and responsibilities of students, teachers and parents. Three basic questions are the basis of all school rules:
Is it safe?
Is it fair?
Does it show you care?
Children are encouraged to use these questions to guide their choices and behaviour.
Our school also has a weekly meeting that focuses on the school values and supports students to develop social and problem solving skills. This is complemented by the explicit teaching of social skills in classrooms. Where problems occur we use restorative practices to address what has occurred and to repair the harm.
